Must-Do Winter Events near Ottawa

Published by at 12:52 pm under Local Events

Here at Sierra Mazda, we want to wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday season. One thing we love about our area is the winter events near Ottawa. There is so much to see and do during the snowy months, and here are just a few of our favorites.

Dinner and Christmas Concert at the Reddick Mansion

The Reddick Mansion and Gardens is a beautiful place to take in the Christmas spirit, and learn a bit of Ottawa history while you’re at it. The guest house operates as a free museum and interpretive center, and tours are available to explore the mansion. During the weekend of December 12th, The Cheese Shop will be providing a scrumptious dinner to compliment music by the Prairie Singers.

Holiday Vignettes at Hegeler Carus Mansion

Next door in La Salle, the Victorian holidays come alive at Hegeler Carus Mansion this Christmas. The family maid will welcome you into the vast home and whisk your party away on a tour of the finely-appointed rooms. You may even meet the Hegeler family among the halls, dressed in their Christmas best, ready for a holiday in the 1800s. Tickets are $25 each, and include a cookie and festive drink from the Hegeler wine cellar.

Visit with Santa at Washington Square Park

Here in Ottawa, we spend a lot of time strolling through Washington Square Park downtown. This year, Santa will be available to listen to lists and post for photos with the little ones. Check the Ottawa Tourism Site for specific times of Santa’s arrival, and don’t forget to bring hot cocoa for a chilly day in the park.

Do you have a favorite winter event in Ottawa, Illinois? We’d love to hear about it.
