The Epic Million Mile Miata Trip

Million Mile Miata Trip

A Miata might not be a convertible that impresses from the start, but it actually has a lot more to prove than you think.

Those who love Miatas love minimalism and this is a car that makes the driving experience a priority. One writer took a journey with the Miata to prove just this.

Alex Kierstein, of RoadandTrack.com, took a 2862 mile trip with just his Miata. The top down, no radio, and no phone calls. Just him and the open road, from Knoxville, Tennessee to Monterey, California.

With a Miata that had already accumulated more than 335,000 miles, Kierstein began to travel through the steep San Juan Mountains that put nothing between him and the gorge below but naked cliff.

He even made it to the famous Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to take the Miata for a few laps. There’s nothing quite like driving a car with that many miles and an open top around a race track!

Kierstein’s overall goal? To get this Miata up to one million miles. And, after the journeys it has gone through with Kierstein, it might just get him there.
