CX-5 mid-cycle refresh

It’s common for automakers to rerelease the same model with a few minor upgrades in order to compete with other manufacturers in its segment, particularly in a segment as trendy and fast-moving as crossovers. The Mazda CX-5 mid-cycle refresh has earned the compact crossover a few new standard features and a price bump, along with an unusual 2016.5 model year. Mazda made the announcement mid-December that the new 2016.5 CX-5 would be coming to dealerships at the beginning of 2016.

The new price for the base Sport trim level of the CX-5 is $22,695 with a $900 destination charge, only a $20 increase from the original $880 charge. New standard features for the base trim include a rearview camera, which was only available through a package in previous models. Higher trim levels get fun features like heated front seats and navigation equipment, all of which were previously only available features in the original 2016 model year.

With such a slight price bump for such coveted features, the Mazda CX-5 mid-cycle refresh will be a welcome change for drivers interested in purchasing a new compact crossover. The inclusion of new standard conveniences will give the 2016.5 CX-5 an advantage over competing vehicles.
