All-New MX-5 Miata Gets a Boost in Fuel Efficiency

Published by at 12:08 pm under Mazda Miata

Shortly after releasing pricing for that all-new MX-5 Miata, Mazda has now announced the fuel economy numbers and they’re quite impressive – just like the car itself. In fact, the 2016 Miata gets a generous 25 percent boost in fuel efficiency compared to the last model.

The six-speed manual Miata is equipped with a 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that produces 155 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, and will offer 27 mpg city and 34 mpg highway. If you choose to go with the six-speed automatic, it will return 27 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.

The boost in fuel efficiency can be partially credited to a 150 pound weight loss and the newest Skyactiv engine under the Miata’s hood.

Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations said, “There has always been an MX-5 for all types of drivers, from weekend autocross and track-day enthusiasts to those who just want a stylish convertible sports car. With its improved fuel-efficiency, we believe that audience will grow even larger when it goes on sale this summer.”

Stay tuned to our blog here at Sierra Mazda and we will let you know when the stylish and fuel efficient MX-5 Miata arrives!
